Mark R. Barrie started in the commercial insurance industry in 1987. In 1990, Mr. Barrie went to work for Anderson and Anderson Insurance Brokers, then the largest broker based in Orange County, California. Mr. Barrie began as an Account Executive in the Captive Insurance Division, working with six group captives. In 1993, Mr. Barrie became Vice President of Anderson and Anderson’s Captive Unit and Program Manager for two existing heterogeneous workers’ compensation captive groups. From 1993 to 1997, Mr. Barrie managed group captives, formed new group captives, and worked with single parent captives, covering a variety of lines of insurance. In October of 1997, Anderson and Anderson Insurance Brokers were acquired by AON, who at the time was the second largest insurance broker in the world.


In 1998, Mr. Barrie went to work for PrideMark Insurance in Orange County as Vice President. Mr. Barrie produced and managed captive and non- captive accounts at PrideMark Insurance until January of 2002, when he opened his own brokerage and captive management company, United Captive Insurance Brokers. The goal of the company is to manage existing captive business and to form new captive insurance groups and companies. United Captive Insurance Brokers also manages self-insured group health programs and provides multiple lines of insurance coverage to its’ clients. United Captive Insurance Brokers has clients with locations throughout the United States.


Mark R. Barrie is a licensed agent in the areas of both Fire and Casualty and Life and Disability. Mr. Barrie is actively involved with various captive insurance trade groups and associations, has written articles, and has spoken at numerous seminars on a variety of insurance related topics. Mr. Barrie’s company United Captive Insurance Brokers has been located in Fountain Valley, California since 2002.
