James Bulkowski is a Senior Manager in the Financial Services Organization practice of Ernst & Young LLP’s Financial Services Office and co-leader of EY’s America’s Captive Insurance Services Group. He is based in the firm’s Hoboken office and has over 25 years of experience. He heads EY’s property & casualty M&A diligence work as well as co leads the Americas Captive Services Group. Prior to joining Ernst & Young, he held a Senior Vice President position at one of the major insurance brokerage firms, specializing in captive insurance arrangements and set up, mergers and acquisitions diligence, and brokerage, account management.
James is also responsible for providing alternative risk solutions with a focus on alternative insurance arrangements in the property/casualty, life/health, and tax areas, with a focus on captive insurance. He has significant experience in leading merger and acquisitions engagement teams through the insurance due diligence process and post transaction integration, assisting clients with testing and remediation of internal controls, and large corporate insurance program reviews. His efforts contributed to EY winning the “Insurance Consulting Team of the Year” award for 2021.
James has provided traditional consulting and advisory advice to global corporations both in the Americas, Europe, Middle East, and Asia focusing on insurance global design, risk management program reviews, process documentation and controls, brokerage, and staffing alignment. This includes in depth casualty and property insurance marketing and technical advice to clients of both large and midsize corporations in a variety of industries.
James has provided advisory services to insurance and brokerage companies in the areas of product architecture speed to market, and IT integration. This includes services in the identification, selection, and management of vendors for insurance and non insurance companies with a focus on cost containment and service standards and quality.
