Eduardo A Fox, LE and LC, serves as Consultant in Appleby’s Corporate and Private Client & Trusts practice groups in Bermuda, and for the global Latin American and Latin European team for the global law firm.
He has over 30 years of experience at Appleby, starting in the capacity of Manager of the Corporate Practice Group. Eduardo’s duties were expanded in April 1997 to also include the management of the Trusts Practice Group and again in 2000 to include the management of the Global LatAm Business Development team. Since then, he has successfully participated in extensive business development exploration in major Latin American and Iberian economies, such as Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Mexico, Panama, Peru, Portugal, Spain and Venezuela.
Eduardo also serves as Consultant to Davies Captive Management on Business Development, Marketing and LatAm Clients; Eduardo is also the Official Advisor for Latin American Affairs to both the Government of Bermuda and the Bermuda Insurance Management Association (BIMA) (see: Negotiating and signing of Tax Information Exchange Agreements -TIEAs- with Mexico, Colombia, Argentina and Brazil since 2011 to date; ‘Premier to Lead Trade Mission Delegation to Mexico City’, The Bermuda Government, November 2019). Most recently, in November 2024, Eduardo joined forces with Nick Frost, President of Davies Captive Management, and his LatAm team, on a major Business Development Trip to Mexico City as great interest is reviving in the region with regard to Captives.
In addition, he was instrumental in bringing the Latin American Risk and Insurance Management Association´s (ALARYS) Congress to Bermuda in 2004, 2010 and 2016, the only times the conference has been held outside Latin America, and was appointed as ALARYS Vice President-Marketing and Diffusion since 2010.
Eduardo received the 2023 Bermuda Captive Conference’s Fred Reiss Lifetime Achievement Award.
He is fluent in English and Spanish, and possesses an advanced working knowledge of Portuguese and Italian.
Eduardo was born in Mexico City and obtained his Economics and Certified Public Accounting post-graduate degrees at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM), with further studies on International Economics with the University of Maryland, USA.
