Ken joined Guy Carpenter as Managing Director in the Tampa, Florida office in December of 2016. Ken’s main responsibility is working with clients primarily focused on coastal property risks in Florida and surrounding coastal states to develop risk management strategies and solutions that minimize clients’ retained risk while maximizing their profitability. Included within this responsibility is leading and managing the placement of sophisticated reinsurance programs. In addition to providing Florida and coastal property risk management expertise, Ken also serves in similar roles for regional clients outside of the coastal property space of the US, including California, Northeast, Midwest, and Pacific Northwest, covering diverse lines of businesses.

Ken has 30 years of insurance industry experience serving in various positions throughout his career. Before his experience in the reinsurance business as a broker and financial analyst at Willis Re and E.W. Blanch, Ken spent several years in insurance regulation working for the Minnesota Department of Commerce (Insurance Division) in St. Paul, MN, and the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) in Kansas City, MO.

Ken received a Bachelor of Science in Finance from Winona State University in Winona, MN. He also holds several industry designations, including Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), Chartered Property & Casualty Underwriter (CPCU), Associate in Reinsurance (ARe), and Fellow, Life Management Institute (FLMI).
