Guilden was born and raised in Bermuda, attended Acadia University and achieved a BBA – Finance and Economics in 1990.

Guilden started his career as a Foreign Exchange Dealer with a Barclays affiliate in Bermuda, however, as Bermuda had become a major insurance centre he began to seek opportunity within the insurance sector. In 1993 he was brought in Marsh & McLennan, today known as, Marsh Inc., as a Professional Liability Broker with his clientele being the U.S. Fortune 500 Companies. His responsibility was to negotiate high excess placements within the Bermuda Market.

Guilden proved to be valuable asset to Marsh and was promoted to Assistant Vice President with 16 months of beginning his tenure. After his promotion he was seconded to the Marsh Atlanta office because the office was short staffed and there was need for someone with the capabilities of hitting the ground running. He spent 3 months in Atlanta where he obtained retail broking experience and building programme structures from the ground up.

In 1997 he and his Bahamian wife relocated to the Bahamas where he was employed by the CG Coralisles Group to start up and manage new Group Pensions operation and he served as Vice President of Pensions. In 1999 Guilden was head hunted by Insurance Management, one of the largest local (Bahamas) insurance brokers and agents, to head up the Health & Life Department at Insurance Management where he was able to significantly grow the book of business.

It was in 2001 that Guilden made the decision to step out on his own and became an Independent Insurance Broker placing his business through a licensed insurance intermediary. Many of his clients followed him because his knowledge of being a broker meant he could strongly represent his clients in insurance matters. It was in 2008, after a few years of back-and-forth discussions between himself and Victor Chandler that Chandler Gilbert Insurance Associates, a boutique insurance brokerage and advisory firm, was formed and began operations. Guilden serves as President of Chandler Gilbert Insurance Associates. The company has developed a reputation as being able to secure insurance placements that others are unable to, this is due to experience and relationships developed over the careers of Guilden and Victor.

One of the goals Guilden set himself, very early in his move to the Bahamas, was to re-establish the Bahamas as a recognized Captive Insurance domicile. In 2004 he, along with Atlas Insurance Management, created a Medical Malpractice captive, which today in operating as a Domestic Captive. Today there are roughly 86 insured physicians. The strength of the captive has been tested as a few claims over the years have been mitigate and settled. In 2017 after being approached about creating a Captive for a New York contractor Guilden and Victor created CG Captive Managers and took on the first Captive Insurance company. Guilden attends several Captive and Insurance conferences to fly the flag of the Bahamas as a domicile. It is not an easy market to break into but in partnership with the Bahamas Financial Services Board and a close working relationship with Insurance Commission of the Bahamas, the efforts continue.

Guilden has been heavily involved in the domestic insurance market having created, with another local broker, the Bahamas Insurance Brokers Association (BIBA) and serving two terms as inaugural President. During his tenure as President he was instrumental in the re-drafting of the Domestic Insurance Act and ensured that the role of brokers was appropriately addressed.
