Erik Johnson is an insurance leader, volunteer, and a fervent advocate for inclusion within the industry. He has made significant contributions to the insurance sector, particularly in promoting inclusivity. He was a founding Co-Chair of Link (LGBT Insurance Network), served as the Insurance Institute of London’s first Diversity Champion, and helped establish iCAN (Insurance Cultural Awareness Network) and Inclusion@Lloyd’s.
After an injury ended his professional ballet career, he pursued a Bachelor of Commerce with a joint major in Insurance, Risk Management & Finance at the University of Calgary, where he now serves on the Advisory Board of the Risk & Insurance program. Erik furthered his education with an MSc in Insurance & Risk Management from Cass Business School.
Erik's professional journey includes roles at Marsh in Canada, Deloitte in London, and strategic as well as underwriting management positions within the London Market. His contributions have earned him multiple accolades, including the Chartered Insurance Institute’s ‘Unsung Hero’, the University of Calgary’s ‘Distinguished Alumni Award’, and a portrait in Lloyd’s Old Library. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Insurance Institute and a Liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Insurers.
