Dr. Leroy (Lee) David Nunery II is an accomplished executive and entrepreneur with a unique breadth of experiences formed from over forty years in corporate banking, capital markets, higher education, professional sports, charter school management, public education, and with a family-owned electrical contracting firm, Leroy Nunery & Sons, Inc. In 2007, he founded PlūsUltré LLC, a strategic advisory firm that focuses on strategic planning, program development, organizational transformations, talent development, governance, and diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) strategies.
In 2017 and 2021, PlūsUltré was commissioned by the National African American Insurance Association (NAAIA) and Marsh Companies to author groundbreaking demographic and psychographic studies called “The Journey of African American Insurance Professionals: Past and Present” and “The Next Steps on the Journey”. He has also authored two DEI Catalogs for the American Property Casualty Insurance Association (APCIA). He is recognized as a subject matter expert and has presented to and consulted with insurance carriers, agencies, trade associations, and the Congressional Financial Services Committee's Subcommittee on Diversity and Inclusion in Insurance.
In November 2021, Dr. Nunery was named President of Evolution Advisors, LLC. Evolution Advisors is a joint venture of fintech Acrisure, Super Bowl champion quarterback Russell Wilson, Grammy Award-winning singer/songwriter Ciara and nine-time NBA All-Star, Russell Westbrook. Evolution Advisors’ mission is to help minority agencies fuel their growth through scale, technology, and proprietary products and resources. Acrisure is the intelligence-driven financial services distribution platform of the future, specializes in intelligence-driven financial services, providing a broad array of products including insurance, Asset Management, Real Estate Services, and Cyber Services. The Company has grown revenue from $38 million to $4 billion in just over 9 years and has locations in 15 countries.
Among other recognitions, Dr. Nunery has been awarded the Wallace L. Jones Lifetime Achievement Award by the Consortium for Graduate Study in Management, and the Alumni Achievement and Community Engagement Award from Washington University’s Gephardt Institute. Since 2002, Lafayette College has awarded the Leroy D. Nunery Scholarship Award for Intellectual Citizenship to a senior student of color for leadership and academic excellence.
Dr. Nunery has extensive governance experience, and serves on the boards of Cheyney University, Independence Blue Cross (Regional Advisory Committee), the West Oak Lane Charter School Foundation. In 2022, he was named Chair of the Board of Governors for the American Council of Life Insurers (ACLI) new affordable housing initiative, “360 Community Capital”. Past board engagements include Benchmark School, Philadelphia Outward Bound School, the National Council of Washington University’s Gephardt Institute for Civic and Community Engagement, Blue Cross Blue Shield Association, Inc., Pitney Bowes, Inc., Savoy Bank (New York), and Lafayette College. He is a Lifetime Member of the National Black MBA Association, Inc., and served as National President (1983 - 1987).
Dr. Nunery is a graduate of Lafayette College (B.A., Honors in History, 1977), Washington University (M.B.A., 1979), and the University of Pennsylvania (Ed.D., 2003).
He is a proud member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., and Sigma Pi Phi Fraternity.
